Glen Powell, star of 'Twisters', moves to Austin on Matthew McConaughey's advice, leaving Hollywood's 'Matrix' for a real-life connection.

Glen Powell has recently made a significant life decision, choosing to leave Hollywood and move back to his hometown of Austin, Texas. The decision, influenced by Matthew McConaughey's advice, marks a new chapter for the 'Anyone But You' star. Powell, after more than two decades in the entertainment industry, has decided to prioritize a real-life connection over the glitz and glamor of Los Angeles.

McConaughey, an Austin native, advised Powell to unplug from the 'Matrix' of Hollywood. "Hollywood is the Matrix, man. You plug in and it's all fake world," McConaughey told Powell. "Then I go to Austin, and I unplug. It's all real. Those are my friends, that's my family, my actions matter there."

Powell echoed this sentiment in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, emphasizing the importance of separating his professional and personal lives. "He's right," Powell said. "If you're here, you live in the Matrix all the time, there's no separation of those worlds. And for me, especially as my parents get older and my niece and nephew are growing up, I want a separation of those worlds."

A Growing Trend Among Celebrities
Powell is not alone in his move away from Hollywood. Actors Jared Padalecki and James Van Der Beek have also relocated to the Austin area, seeking a more grounded and private life. Sheryl Crow, who moved to Tennessee after 20 years in Los Angeles, shared similar reasons for her move. Crow told The Tennessean, "Celebrity is tantamount in Los Angeles, and it's not here, and I think celebrity and fame have done a disservice to artistry."

Crow further explained that the sense of community and privacy in Tennessee was a major factor in her decision. "In this community, family is the most important thing, and privacy rates way up there. I don't think the community here would allow something like paparazzi everywhere."

Powell, who stars in the upcoming movie 'Twisters' alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones, is confident in his decision. "I think this is going to be good for my head, heart and soul," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

The Future for Glen Powell
As Powell settles into his new home in Austin, he looks forward to a life that allows him to balance his career and personal life more effectively. The move symbolizes a shift in priorities for the actor, placing a higher value on family and genuine connections over the artificial allure of Hollywood.
