Evangeline Lilly steps away from acting, focuses on personal fulfillment

Lost star Evangeline Lilly has officially announced her departure from acting, sharing that she is ready for a new chapter in her life. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lilly expressed her contentment and excitement about stepping away from Hollywood, at least for the time being. She wrote, "Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READYand I AM HAPPY."

Lilly's message was accompanied by a video from the set of Lost, where she answered a question about her future aspirations. "I am terrified to admit this to the rest of the acting world," she said, "but ideally 10 years from now, I'd like to be a retired actress and I would like to have a family and potentially influencing people's lives in a more humanitarian way."

The post also featured a clip of Maya Angelou discussing the importance of being "in process" and embracing the inevitability of death, a sentiment that resonated deeply with Lilly. She noted that Angelou's words "perfectly" captured her feelings about life.


Lilly's recent role was in the 2023 film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, where she reprised her character Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp. Her career, which began in the early 2000s, includes notable films such as The Hurt Locker and The Hobbit series.
