Howard University cuts ties with Sean Combs.

Howard University has revoked Sean "Diddy" Combs' honorary degree following the release of a disturbing video. The video, dating back to 2016, shows Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, also known as Cassie. This decision aligns with the university's core values and zero-tolerance policy for interpersonal violence.

The board of trustees at the Washington, D.C.based institution announced their decision on Friday. They emphasized that Combs' behavior was "incompatible with Howard University's core values and beliefs." This led to the decision to revoke the honorary degree awarded to him in 2014.

The repercussions for Combs extend beyond the revocation of his honorary degree. Howard University will also terminate a 2016 gift agreement with Combs, disband the scholarship program named after him, and return his $1 million contribution. Additionally, the university will terminate a 2023 pledge agreement with the Sean Combs Foundation. As of this date, no payments towards the $1 million pledge had been made, thus no funds need to be returned.

Cassie Ventura's attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, commented on the video, calling it "gut-wrenching" and highlighting the courage Ventura showed in bringing this issue to light. The video shows Combs grabbing Ventura by the neck, throwing her to the ground, and kicking her. It was first obtained by CNN from a Los Angeles hotel that has since closed.
