Marvel has once again captured the attention of fans with a bold move. Ryan Reynolds, the star of the upcoming Marvel movie Deadpool & Wolverine, recently unveiled a new popcorn bucket that rivals the infamous 'Dune: Part Two' sandworm bucket in suggestiveness. As Kevin Feige had promised, this popcorn bucket is designed to be both crude and humorous.

On Thursday, Reynolds shared a teasing ad featuring the new popcorn bucket, a Wolverine helmet with a very wide open mouth. In a playful yet provocative video, a gloved hand caresses the helmet as popcorn falls on its «face» and butter dribbles down its side. This design follows Marvel chief Kevin Feige's promise of a «crude and rude» design for the bucket.

Reynolds humorously remarked,
Years from now they will look back at 2024 as when the War of the Popcorn Buckets began,
highlighting the unique and memorable nature of this promotional item. The side of the bucket features the words «Designed by Deadpool» scrawled in red, adding to its playful character.


The idea for the popcorn bucket was first teased by Reynolds right after the Deadpool & Wolverine teaser trailer dropped during the Super Bowl. He wrote,
Wait til you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket.
This statement only increased the anticipation among fans.

At CinemaCon in April, Feige spoke to exhibitors about the unique design, saying,
We've asked Deadpool to design a popcorn bucket for Deadpool & Wolverine. And I don't want to spoil it, but I will say, there are some movies that inadvertently make crude and rude popcorn buckets, and then there are popcorn buckets designed by Deadpool.

The actual distribution details, including which cinema chains will carry the bucket or its cost, have not yet been announced. Historically, novelty buckets like these have been a significant revenue boost for theaters. For instance, AMC's special edition Barbie Corvettes sold out quickly, earning nearly $1 million in revenue.

The Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket is set to hit theaters on July 26, marking Marvel's first R-rated superhero movie under Disney's ownership since acquiring the franchise from 20th Century Fox in 2019. The combination of Reynolds' humor and Feige's marketing strategy is likely to make this item a must-have for fans.
