Eminem drops first single from his upcoming album 'The Death of Slim Shady'

Eminem's new single, "Houdini," marks the first release from his upcoming 12th album, "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)," set to drop this summer. The track features classic Eminem themes and controversial lyrics, sparking both excitement and controversy.

Hey Em, it's Paul. I was listening to the album Good fucking luck, you're on your own,
says Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's longtime manager, in the song's opening.

"Houdini" is reminiscent of his 2002 hit "Without Me," beginning with the familiar lines, "Guess who's back, back again / Shady's back, tell a friend." Produced by Eminem and Luis Resto, the song includes a sample from Steve Miller Band's "Abracadabra" and references Megan Thee Stallion's shooting incident.

In true Eminem style, "Houdini" pushes boundaries with lines about transgender individuals, RuPaul, and even his own children. He raps:

Cancel me, what? Okay, that's it, go ahead Paul, quit / Snake ass prick, you male cross dresser, fake ass bitch / And I'll probably get shit for that (watch) / But you can all suck my dick, in fact, fuck them / Fuck Dre, fuck Jimmy, fuck me, fuck you / Fuck my own kids, they're brats (fuck 'em) / They can screw off, them and you all (yeah) / You too, Paul, got two balls, big as RuPaul's.

The music video for "Houdini" pays homage to "Without Me," with Eminem traveling back to 2002 in a comic strip style. The video features cameos from 50 Cent, Pete Davidson, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Alchemist, blending past and present Eminems.

Details about "The Death of Slim Shady" have been sparse since Eminem announced the album last month. Dr. Dre, during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in March, confirmed his involvement and mentioned he was set to hear the album soon.

Eminem announced the album during the NFL Draft in April with a teaser hinting at the end of his alter ego, Slim Shady. He followed up with a fake obituary in the Detroit Free Press and an Instagram Reel with magician David Blaine, where he humorously declared,
For my last trick, I'm going to make my career disappear.
