Drew Gordon, former NBA player and older brother of Denver Nuggets' Aaron Gordon, tragically passed away in a car crash on May 30.

Former NBA forward Drew Gordon, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season, has died at the age of 33. Drew was also known as the older brother of Denver Nuggets star Aaron Gordon.

In a heartfelt tribute, the Denver Nuggets shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), featuring a black and white photo of the Gordon brothers. The caption read,

The Denver Nuggets organization is devastated to learn about the tragic passing of Drew Gordon. Drew was far too young to leave this world, but his legacy will forever live on through his three beautiful children and all of his loved ones.
The organization added,

Drew's agent, Calvin Andrews, confirmed to ESPN that the former basketball player died in a car accident in Portland, Oregon, on May 30. Andrews and Portland Police have yet to respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.


Drew Gordon began his college career at UCLA, where he spent two years playing for the Bruins before transferring to New Mexico. He joined the New Mexico Lobos for his junior season, where he played for two years, averaging at least 13 points and 10 rebounds per game. Despite his strong performance, he did not make the 2012 NBA draft but continued to build a successful basketball career.

CBS Sports noted that Drew played for the Dallas Mavericks in the Summer League and subsequently moved between various foreign leagues and the G League. His professional journey took him to France, Italy, Turkey, Serbia, Lithuania, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, and Poland. He eventually played for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season, participating in nine games.

Drew's career abroad was highlighted by his All-Star recognition in France in 2015. He continued playing professional basketball until his retirement in 2023, making significant contributions to the sport worldwide.

On April 26, Drew's last Instagram post showcased a picture of him and his brother Aaron, with the caption,

His Instagram also featured posts celebrating his wife Angela and their life together.

According to ESPN, Drew Gordon is survived by his wife Angela and their three children. The basketball community and fans alike mourn the loss of a dedicated player whose impact on and off the court will be remembered.
